About Jen
As an art tutor, I aim to create a space where students feel both supported and challenged to grow. I approach every lesson with patience, curiosity, and respect for each student’s unique creative voice. My background in drawing, painting, and design allows me to guide students through both technical foundations and personal expression—helping them build confidence in their skills while developing their own artistic perspective. I believe that art is best learned through observation, experimentation, and reflection. Whether I’m teaching figure drawing, composition, or landscape studies, I emphasize process over perfection, encouraging students to take creative risks and learn from every mark they make. My goal is to make art education approachable and inspiring—to help students not only improve their craft, but also find joy and meaning in creating. I take pride in fostering a professional yet welcoming learning environment where curiosity, growth, and creativity thrive.

Drawing
Students will learn the foundations of drawing through observation, gesture, and mark-making. I emphasize building confidence with line quality, proportion, and perspective—helping students develop both technical skill and a personal visual language.
Figure Drawing
This class focuses on understanding the human form through live models, anatomical studies, and dynamic poses. Lessons explore proportion, gesture, and structure, encouraging students to see the figure not just as anatomy but as expression and movement.
Design
Students will explore design principles such as balance, hierarchy, rhythm, and contrast. Through hands-on exercises and critiques, we’ll practice creating visually cohesive compositions that communicate ideas clearly and intentionally.
Painting
From color mixing to brush handling, this course introduces painting as both a technical craft and an expressive medium. Students will experiment with different materials and techniques while learning to translate mood and atmosphere onto the canvas.
Composition
This lesson trains the eye to organize visual elements effectively. Through studies in layout, framing, and focal points, students will learn how to guide a viewer’s attention and create dynamic, harmonious images in any medium.
Landscape
Students will study natural and built environments, practicing how to capture light, depth, and space in outdoor scenes. Emphasis is placed on observation, atmosphere, and storytelling—seeing landscape as a reflection of emotion and place.
