About Purvesh
I’m a dedicated and dynamic educator with a deep-rooted passion for sustainability, design innovation, and future-focused architecture. With an academic journey that spans an undergraduate degree in Architecture, a Master's in Zero Carbon Architecture and Retrofit Design, and a PhD in Architecture specialising in Nature-Based Solutions for thermal insulation, I bring a rare blend of creative thinking and scientific rigour to everything I teach. Professionally, I’ve worked as a Sustainability Consultant, Net-Zero Advisor, and University Lecturer in Sustainable Urban Futures, contributing to some of the UK’s most ambitious low-carbon housing projects. My experience includes advising on multi-million-pound development schemes in London, the West Midlands, and Hertfordshire — guiding local councils in achieving their net-zero targets through advanced multi-objective optimisation strategies. Several of these projects have received national media coverage. As a university educator, I’ve been nominated for the Vice Chancellor Awards — the highest honour at my institution — in recognition of my contribution to improving course delivery and student success at the School of Architecture. But what truly sets me apart is my bespoke, student-centred approach to tutoring. I work closely with each learner to identify their challenges and unlock their potential through a structured, supportive, and highly tailored methodology. This approach has consistently resulted in an 85%+ success rate across institutions — helping students gain confidence, improve academic outcomes, and build real-world capabilities in areas such as Life Cycle Assessment, carbon modelling, parametric design tools (Ladybug, Honeybee, Galapagos, Pedsim), and building physics simulations. My tutoring sessions are designed to empower students, graduates, and early-career professionals with the technical, creative, and analytical tools needed to thrive in the fields of architecture, design, and sustainability. I combine a clear, structured approach with a flexible, supportive environment — ensuring each session is tailored to your goals, pace, and learning style. Teaching Methodology: I teach through real-world case studies, hands-on exercises, and live demonstrations using industry-standard software such as Ladybug, Honeybee, Pedsim, Galapagos, and other Grasshopper-based parametric tools. Lessons often include walkthroughs of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), whole-life carbon calculations, energy assessments, and building performance simulations for both residential and commercial projects. My aim is to bridge the gap between theory and practice — ensuring that you not only understand the principles behind sustainability and performance analysis, but also gain practical skills to implement these in your academic projects or professional work. Lesson Format: Typical lesson length: 60–90 minutes Mode: Online (via Zoom or MS Teams) or in-person by arrangement Delivery: 1-on-1 sessions or small focused groups (project mentorships available) Materials provided: These will be developed bespoke to suit your tuition requirements. These can include for example custom worksheets, sample models, reading resources etc. Who the Lessons Are For: University students (BArch and MArch levels in Architecture, Design, Engineering, or Environmental Studies) Professionals & recent graduates looking to upskill or pivot into sustainable architecture, building performance, or energy modelling. A-level or IB students with an interest in design, sustainability, or technology-driven problem solving. Qualifications & Experience: With a strong background of over 10 years as an academic and an industry professional and having developed design and sustainability expertise, I’ve taught and mentored students at University level and consulted on groundbreaking research and real-world design projects across the UK, Europe and Middle East. My approach is both technically rigorous and creatively stimulating, grounded in years of experience in design technology, environmental simulation, and sustainable urban futures.

Perfect! Over the summer, I worked with Purvesh on a tailored learning programme covering design, technology, and sustainability elements of my Part 1 Architectural Design course.
