About Jackson
Hi! My name is Jackson, and I’m a Fine Arts undergraduate at Pratt Institute. I’m an award-winning multidisciplinary artist from Baltimore, Maryland, with a focus on painting and drawing. I have experience teaching foundational art as an assistant from ages 7-15, helping students produce award-winning work but also work they can be proud of.
I’m a kind and patient person who understands that everyone learns differently, and I adapt my teaching style to meet each student’s needs.

My lessons are for anyone who wants to understand the core principles of art, such as proportion, value, composition, etc. I have previous experience working as a teaching assistant at an art studio and have developed strong skills in vocabulary, communicating with students, and adapting my teaching style to meet each student’s individual needs.
A typical lesson begins with a lecture on the fundamentals, usually building on the previous lesson. From there, we begin the project for the day, typically a still life that I help my student set up. I give my students space to breathe and create, only checking in every 15 minutes or so to help correct any inconsistencies in the piece (or whenever I am asked for help, of course).
At the end of the lesson, we review what needs to be worked on. The next lesson will either begin a new project or continue the current piece.
If meetings are in person than Materials will be provided for the day.
