About Tamar
I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and have always had a genuine love of learning. I completed my undergraduate degree at UCLA, where I double majored in History and Political Science with a concentration in Political Theory. I graduated Cum Laude and was a member of the Scholars Honors Program. During my time at UCLA, I also gained experience tutoring English and math through the online platform GoPeer, working with students at different academic levels.
I have two years of tutoring experience and have worked with middle school, high school, and college students. I especially enjoy helping students build confidence in subjects that initially feel challenging or overwhelming. Whether a student needs help understanding a difficult reading, improving their writing, preparing for an exam, or simply developing stronger study habits, I aim to make lessons supportive, engaging, and tailored to their individual goals.
After graduating from UCLA, I spent a year in Germany as a Fulbright Research Scholar, where I conducted research at Goethe University Frankfurt on migration, political theory, and contemporary European politics. I am now preparing to begin a master's degree in International Security, Intelligence, and Strategic Studies through the Erasmus Mundus program, which will take me to universities in Scotland, Italy, and the Czech Republic.
Outside of academics, I love hiking, climbing, traveling, and exploring new places. Having studied and worked in different countries, I particularly enjoy learning about different cultures and perspectives. I bring that curiosity into my lessons and encourage students to approach their subjects with the same sense of confidence and curiosity.

I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to their individual needs, learning style, and goals. During the first lesson, I like to get to know the student, understand where they are currently struggling, and discuss what they would like to achieve.
With experience teaching middle school, high school, and college students, I can help with a wide range of English skills, including reading comprehension, essay writing, grammar, vocabulary, literary analysis, and academic writing. I can also provide support with assignments, papers, and exam preparation.
My approach is encouraging and collaborative. Rather than simply giving students the answers, I want them to develop the skills and confidence to tackle similar problems independently. I focus on breaking difficult concepts into manageable steps, asking questions that encourage critical thinking, and providing constructive feedback that helps students understand not only what they can improve, but how to improve it.
My goal is to make every lesson productive, approachable, and tailored to the student, while helping them become a more confident and independent learner.
