About Lily
What began as a childhood weekend art class ultimately inspired my path towards an art degree and a lifelong passion for education. I received an Associate's degree in Art from El Camino Community College and a Bachelor's degree in Art with a minor in Art Education from UCLA.
While polishing my skills in various mediums, I learned how to challenge my ideas and develop my creative visual expression. Studying art theory has taught me how to explore art through critical inquiry. What is art and why does it matter to us?
Professionally, I have taught as a Visual Arts Educator for fifth and sixth grade students and I recently spent over 7 years in higher education administration at ArtCenter College of Design.
Dedicated to giving back to my community, I have been volunteering as an instructor at the very weekend art program that has led me to where I am today. I have now been teaching there for 13 years and counting.

I believe everyone can create art.
In every lesson my goal is to help you build confidence in your art skills and learn how to think critically about your artwork (and the world around you).
One of the most important skills to have as a creative/ artist is the ability to notice. This is where ideas come from.
My teaching method:
- Meet the student at their level and understand their goal(s)
- Hands-on teaching through demonstrations
- Exploration of ideas through discussions (what, why, how?)
- Constructive feedback on their artwork and progress
These lessons are for those who want to:
- Learn art fundamentals
- Improve current art skills
- Develop their ideas and creative expression
- Receive 1-on-1 constructive feedback from an artist
All skill levels are welcome!
Whether you just need some extra practice or want to have a finished art piece at the end is up to you.
