1) Techniques and teaching methodology
My teaching is structured, supportive, and outcomes-focused. I start by understanding your goals (assignment brief, marking criteria, deadlines) and where you feel stuck. Then we build a clear plan—step by step—so you leave each lesson knowing exactly what to do next.
How I teach:
• Diagnostic start (10 minutes): quick review of your current draft/notes and what the assessment requires
• Scaffolded learning: I break complex tasks (argument, theory, methods, structure) into manageable stages
• Active learning: we work on your material live—paragraph rewrites, outline building, or concept-mapping
• Clarity + critical thinking: I help you turn your initial ideas into a sharp argument with evidence and a clear line of reasoning
• Feedback that’s actionable: you’ll get concrete next steps (what to cut, what to expand, how to restructure)
I’m especially strong at helping students with academic writing, research design, qualitative methods, and dissertation/thesis planning.
2) Typical length of a lesson
Most lessons are 60 minutes.
I also offer 45-minute sessions for quick check-ins (proof-of-argument/structure) and 90-minute sessions for dissertation work, deep editing, or methods support.
3) Qualifications/experience as a tutor
I have an interdisciplinary academic background spanning English Literature/Cultural Studies and Migration/Human Geography, with experience supporting students through reading-heavy, theory-driven, and writing-intensive coursework. I’ve taught and supported learners through seminars, lectures, and research-focused work, and I bring that same structured approach into tutoring: clear explanations, strong examples, and patient guidance tailored to your level.

My lessons are best suited for:
• Undergraduate and postgraduate students (including dissertation/thesis support)
• Adult learners / mature students returning to study
• International students who want support with academic writing conventions and clarity
• Students working in: Migration Studies, Human Geography, Sociology, Anthropology, Cultural Studies, English/Literature, and related humanities/social sciences
Additionally, I can support with: essay structure, literature reviews, critical reading, theory application, research questions, qualitative methods (interviews, thematic analysis), and editing for clarity and academic tone.
