About Harry
I am a UCL English Literature graduate with extensive experience teaching GCSE, A Level and university-level students. Alongside my academic background, I work as a published columnist, theatre editor, and theatre director which allows me to bring both rigour and creativity into my lessons. I have taught English for over a year at an established tuition service, focusing on exam preparation, essay writing, and building student confidence. My leadership roles—such as President of UCL Writers’ Society and Chief Theatre Editor of Era Journal—demonstrate my ability to guide, mentor, and inspire. I offer students not just subject knowledge, but also the skills to think independently and achieve consistently strong results.

I give lessons in English Literature, English Language, History, and Creative Writing from GCSE through A Level and Degree Level. I structure my lessons around the needs of the student, studying the syllabus carefully to prepare them for exams and coursework. I listen carefully, encourage students to think for themselves, and provide clear, practical feedback on both analysis and writing. I have particular experience teaching the OCR (A Level) and AQA (GCSE) English Literature syllabuses, and I am confident teaching across all major exam boards. My tutoring includes close reading, essay planning, exam technique, and proofing of student work, as well as guidance on structuring longer research projects at university level. My own background as a published columnist, editor, and theatre director at the Edinburgh Fringe allows me to bring creativity and real-world insights into my teaching. My lessons are rigorous, supportive, and designed to build confidence—whether the goal is to achieve top grades, sharpen writing skills, or simply enjoy literature more deeply.
