About Ted
I graduated with a First Class degree in Geography, receiving several academic prizes for my work, and have since continued at Oxford for postgraduate study and research. Alongside my studies, I have four years of tutoring experience, working with GCSE and A-level students across a wide range of abilities — from students looking to build their confidence and improve their grades to those aiming for A/A*s.
I’m particularly passionate about making Geography feel accessible and enjoyable. I know that everyone learns differently, so I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel completely comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and working through things at their own pace.
I also have extensive experience supporting university applications and have helped 10 students successfully gain offers from Oxford and Cambridge, predominantly for Geography but also across Social Science and Humanities subjects. I can support students with applications, admissions preparation and interviews, drawing on my own experience of studying and researching at Oxford.
Above all, I’m approachable, patient and genuinely enjoy helping students recognise what they’re capable of. Whether you’re finding Geography difficult, looking to push yourself towards the highest grades, or thinking about applying to university, I’ll tailor our sessions to you and your goals.

My approach to tutoring is friendly, encouraging and completely tailored to the individual student. I work with students across all levels and abilities — whether you’re struggling with a particular topic and want to build your confidence, aiming to move up a grade, or already performing highly and looking to achieve the very top marks.
I have four years of tutoring experience at GCSE and A-level, and my lessons are usually around 60 minutes. I keep sessions interactive and conversational, combining clear explanations of content with essay planning, exam technique and practice questions. I particularly enjoy helping students understand what examiners are actually looking for and turning their knowledge into clear, analytical and well-structured answers.
I graduated from the University of Oxford with a First Class BA (ranking 2nd in my cohort) and MSc in Geography and am now completing doctoral research at Oxford. Having recently been through the education and university admissions system myself, I try to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, getting things wrong and working through difficult ideas together.
Alongside GCSE and A-level tutoring, I offer university application and Oxbridge admissions support. I have successfully supported 10 students in gaining offers from Oxford and Cambridge, primarily for Geography but also across a range of Social Science and Humanities subjects. I can help with every stage of the process, from developing an application and preparing written work to admissions tests and interview preparation.
Most importantly, there is no assumed starting point in my lessons. I adapt how I teach to the student in front of me, with the aim of making Geography more manageable, interesting and enjoyable — while helping each student achieve the best they can.
