About Sterling
I am a passionate saxophone tutor with more than 10 years of experience teaching college students. I believe music learning should be motivating, organised, and expressive. My teaching style focuses on strong fundamentals while encouraging creativity and personal growth.
Lessons include tone building, breathing exercises, finger technique, rhythm control, and performance preparation. I also guide students in improvisation to help them gain confidence and musical freedom. Real-life music examples are used to make lessons meaningful and practical.
To improve learning results, I use recording analysis, personalised feedback, and guided practice routines. I also teach music theory, ear training, and sight-reading so students develop a complete understanding of music.
My lessons are supportive and goal-oriented. Whether you want to perform in college programmes or play music as a hobby, I help you progress step by step with clarity and encouragement.

My teaching approach for Saxophone is designed to help students learn with clarity, confidence, and enjoyment. I believe a strong foundation is essential, so I begin by teaching correct posture, breathing techniques, embouchure control, finger coordination, tone development, and rhythm accuracy. Each concept is explained in simple language and practised using easy exercises and musical examples so students can understand and improve step by step.
Creativity is a key part of my lessons. I encourage students to explore sound, play melodies they enjoy, and practise basic improvisation. This helps students develop musical expression and stay motivated. As a mentor, I guide students patiently, helping them overcome difficulties and build confidence in their abilities. I focus on creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
Critical thinking is developed by teaching students how to listen carefully, understand their mistakes, and correct them through proper techniques. Accountability is maintained through structured practice plans, clear weekly goals, and regular feedback. Students learn discipline and consistency. Along with Saxophone, I also teach Music Theory, Rhythm Training, Ear Training, and Scale Practice to support overall musical development.
