About Matthew
I am an active music educator, conductor, arranger and performer currently residing in St. Augustine, Florida. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from The University of West Florida and a master’s degree in Instrumental Conducting from the University of South Florida. I have 7 years of full-time teaching experience at the middle school level and 15 years of other teaching experiences. Those experiences include teaching privately and working with various marching ensembles in the state of Florida. I have actively played in community bands and other performance-based groups since I was 13 years old.

My experiences as a middle school band director taught me the importance of students receiving 1 on 1 feedback. Band Directors (though amazing) aren't always able to provide the individual attention each student needs in a band class with 50 other students. My goal is to provide the specialized attention each student deserves.
Typical lessons will provide opportunities for students to learn fundamental techniques aimed at personal performance growth. Students will also develop the self reflection and time management skills necessary to becoming a confident member of any middle school, high school, or community band setting. Lessons are geared towards middle/high school aged students, and non-professional adults.
