About Camellia

Hi! I’m Camellia, a Biomedical Science graduate from King’s College London, where I achieved a 2:1.

I’ve always loved science, but I also know that sometimes it can feel like your textbook is speaking a completely different language! My aim as a tutor is to make those difficult topics feel much more straightforward — without making you feel like you need to memorise an entire textbook to get there.

I achieved **A* grades across GCSE Triple Science, with results above 95%**, so I know what it takes to work towards those higher grades. My Biomedical Science degree has also given me a much deeper understanding of Biology and the sciences beyond GCSE level.

I particularly enjoy tutoring teenagers because I think the best lessons are ones where you can actually have a conversation, ask questions and say *“wait… but why?”* without feeling like you're asking a silly question. There are no silly questions when you're learning!

I like to explain things in a way that actually makes sense rather than simply saying *“just remember this.”* I’ll often use everyday examples, things you might have seen online or in the news, and current scientific developments to make topics more relatable. Sometimes the easiest way to remember something is to connect it to something you already know.

Every student is different, so I don't believe in giving everyone exactly the same lesson. Some students need things broken down step-by-step, some need lots of practice questions, and others mainly need a confidence boost and someone to help them realise that they actually **do** know more than they think!

I’m friendly, patient and encouraging, but I also want lessons to be productive. Whether you're starting from *“I have absolutely no idea what is going on”* or you're aiming for those top grades, we'll work from where you are and build from there.

Ultimately, I want you to finish a lesson thinking: **“Ohhh… THAT'S what it means!”**

And hopefully leave feeling a little more confident than when you arrived.

My approach to tutoring is friendly, structured and tailored to each student. I believe students learn best when they understand *why* something works, rather than simply memorising information for an exam.

I make difficult topics feel much simpler by breaking them down into clear, manageable steps and relating them to **real-life situations, everyday examples and things that teenagers can actually connect with.

Where appropriate, I also use current events, recent developments and examples they may have seen in the news or online to show how what they are learning applies to the world around them. I find that when students can relate a concept to something familiar and relevant, it becomes much easier to understand, remember and apply.

I begin by identifying the student’s current level, strengths and areas that need improvement. From there, I adapt each lesson to their individual needs, whether they are building confidence with the basics, working towards a particular grade or aiming for the highest marks possible.

My lessons combine clear explanations, worked examples, active questioning, discussion, recall practice and exam-style questions. For GCSE Biology and Triple Science, I place particular emphasis on understanding key concepts, applying knowledge to unfamiliar questions and developing strong exam technique. I also help students recognise common mistakes and understand exactly what examiners are looking for.

Lessons are typically **60 minutes**, although longer sessions can be arranged where appropriate. I aim to make lessons engaging, encouraging and interactive while still keeping them focused and productive.

I hold a 2:1 BSc in Biomedical Science from King’s College London, giving me a strong academic background in Biology and the wider sciences. I also achieved **A* grades in GCSE Triple Science, with results above 95%**, and have experience supporting students academically.

My lessons are primarily aimed at GCSE students, including students studying Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Triple Science. I welcome students of different abilities and adapt my teaching style to suit their age, confidence and learning needs.

Most importantly, I want students to leave each lesson feeling that they understand something they previously found difficult — and that they are capable of achieving more than they thought they could.
