About Theodor
I completed my A-levels in 2026, achieving A*s in History, Politics and Economics, alongside an A in my Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
History has always been one of my main academic interests, and it's the subject I've chosen to pursue at university. What I particularly enjoy is looking beyond what happened to understand why it happened, weighing up different explanations and questioning how historians reach their conclusions.
Alongside my A-level course, I completed an independent historical investigation into German unification, and an EPQ exploring the economic and cultural causes of American populism. Both gave me experience of independent research, working with historical sources and developing extended arguments.
Having recently sat the AQA History exams myself, I understand how difficult it can be to turn a good understanding of a topic into a strong essay under timed conditions. I particularly enjoy the analytical side of History and the challenge of constructing an argument that goes beyond simply recounting events.
I've also received tutoring myself, so I know how much difference a good tutor can make. Having someone explain a difficult topic differently, question your reasoning or help you identify weaknesses in your work can be extremely useful.
I'm currently taking a gap year before university and would like to use my experience and interest in History to help other students improve their understanding and exam performance.

I achieved an A* in A-level History in 2026, alongside A*s in Politics and Economics and an A in my Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
My approach is to get students actively thinking about history rather than simply talking them through the content. I use questions and discussion to help students understand why events happened, consider different interpretations and develop their own arguments.
A particular focus of my tutoring is essay writing and longer analytical answers, which I know from experience many History students struggle with. Knowing the historical facts is only part of the challenge. Students also need to select relevant evidence, link it directly to the question and build a convincing argument rather than simply describe events. I focus on helping students develop these skills through practice questions, essay planning and examining where marks are gained or lost.
I can also help with source analysis and historical interpretations, particularly how to evaluate evidence critically and use it to support a judgement.
Lessons are tailored to each student's needs, whether that's understanding a particular historical period, improving factual knowledge, developing essay technique or preparing for exams. I recently completed AQA A-level History, studying Tsarist and Communist Russia and the Wars of the Roses, alongside coursework on German unification. I'm particularly familiar with these topics but can also support students studying other periods and exam boards.
Lessons are suitable for GCSE and A-level History students of all abilities, from those needing help with the fundamentals to those aiming for the highest grades. Lesson lengths are flexible depending on the student's needs.
