About Sofia

Struggling with Leaving Cert Maths or feeling like the explanations at school just don’t click? You’re not alone, and with the right support, maths can start to feel much clearer and far less stressful!

I understand that maths can be a major source of pressure for many students, especially when topics build up or confidence drops. My aim is to create a calm, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, working through mistakes, and rebuilding confidence step by step.

I specialise in helping students understand the logic behind maths rather than memorising procedures. By breaking complex topics into simple, manageable steps, I help students develop the skills to solve problems independently and approach exams with much greater confidence.

As a final-year Physics and Mathematics student at Trinity College Dublin, I bring a strong analytical and structured approach to my teaching. With over four years of tutoring experience, I have helped many Leaving Cert students strengthen weak areas, improve exam technique, and feel genuinely prepared for their exams.

Lessons are always tailored to the individual student’s needs, whether that means catching up on fundamentals, practising exam-style questions, or aiming for top grades.

Parents can expect reliable, organised support and clear progress, while students can expect patience, encouragement, and explanations that truly make sense.

About the lesson

Every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to the individual’s needs and starting level. In our first session, I focus on understanding the student’s current strengths, identifying any gaps in knowledge, and discussing their goals for the Leaving or Junior Cert. This allows us to create a clear, realistic study plan and lesson schedule that suits their pace and priorities.

From there, lessons usually combine clear explanation of concepts, guided practice together, and targeted exam-style questions to build both understanding and confidence. I also regularly revisit key fundamentals where needed, as strong basics are essential for success in more advanced topics.

Students are encouraged to ask as many questions as they need, and I provide feedback and optional practice between sessions so progress stays consistent. My aim is not only to help students solve individual problems, but to make sure they fully understand the methods and feel increasingly confident approaching new questions on their own.
