About Alan
I am a Training Specialist with 30 years of practical experience in Training Management, Skills Development Facilitation, Physical Training, Training legislation (including associated Requirements and Reports), Training Material Development, Student Management (Artisan & Plant Learnerships, Bursaries and Interns) and QMS systems.
I am currently on contract as an HRD Advisory and Primary SDF at Kumba Iron Ore. My current contract will be ending in August.
Projects I have completed during my current contract.
• February 2017 I was contracted at Kumba Sishen Mine; the project was to lead and assisted with the preparation of the HRD department for SETA accreditation with the MQA. In August 2017, the project was completed with Sishen mine being Accredited as a training provider and the Engineering Training Centre (SIVOS) obtained the NAMB/QCTO accreditation as training provider and Trade Test Centre.
• September 2017 my contract was extended to December 2017 and I was sent to at Kolomela Mine to act as Section Manager HRD. During this period, I assisted with preparing Kolomela HRD centre for MQA and ISO 9001:2015 accreditation.
• January 2018 I returned to Sishen and was contracted to lead the Human Resource Development in obtaining ISO 9001:2015 separately from the mine wide ISO.
• February 2018 my contract changed to HRD Advisor and the scope of work changed to being responsible for the obtaining ISO 9001:2015 separately from the mine wide ISO, Implementing and managing a IDP system and assisting with the developing of an electronic IDP system, the role of Primary Skills Development Facilitator for Kumba, the implementation of a mine wide training shift and general advising and implementing of processes in HRD
• September 2018 my contract was again extended to December 2019 in the role of HRD Advisor.
• November 2018 to July 2019 I again functioned as Section Manager HRD for Sishen Mine.
• September 2019 my contract was again extended to December 2020 in the role of HRD Advisor and Skills Development Facilitator for Kumba.
• January 2021, I moved to Kumba HQ Talent and I report to the KUMBA HRD regional Manager as a Learning/Training Advisor & Specialist and Primary SDF.
• My previous employer was Nkomati Joint Venture where I was employed as a Human Resources and Development Superintendent (D3). I have more than 19 years’ experience in all the requirements for the advertised position. Responsibilities were to manage HRD department, Training process and the SDF roll as primary SDF. This included management of Operational & legal compliance training, Policies, Procedures, Quality Control implementation (QMS ISO), Employment Equity, social labour plan, SETA accreditation, IDP process, Bursaries, Graduates, P1 & P2 students, all Learnerships, Managerial & Supervisor training, Study Assistance and ABET. In addition, the management and development of learning programmes, development of training material, WSP & ATR compiling and submission and the recruitment and management of graduates, Learnerships, bursaries and internships.
• We successfully obtained and maintained SETA and ISO accreditation for the nine years consecutively. Compiled and managed the HRD strategy and budget.
• I am a qualified and registered Assessor, Moderator, ISO 9001:2015 internal auditor and Skills Development Facilitator.
• I had the privilege to build and accredited three training centres from scratch to full accreditation.
