About Olivia
Hi I’m Olivia! I am a trainee primary school teacher from Manchester, with a passion for working with children. I’m able to tutor primary school pupils with any school subject but particularly with English, maths and reading. I’m currently studying a primary PGCE at the University of Manchester.
I started my undergraduate degree over 3 years ago, during this time I completed placements supporting pupils in nursery and in a specialist support (SEND) school.
Since my undergraduate degree I have completed countless other placements. I have experience supporting children in nursery, reception, year 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 as a teaching assistant. I have experience teaching children in year 1 and 4 as a teacher. I have a wide range of knowledge of the primary school curriculum.

My approach to tutoring is to first understand the student's current level, learning style, and goals. I start by identifying what they already know and where they're finding things challenging, so I can tailor each session to their individual needs.
I believe in creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Rather than simply giving answers, I guide students to develop their own understanding by asking questions, breaking complex concepts into manageable steps, and using real life examples where appropriate.
I also check understanding regularly throughout the session and adapt my teaching if something isn't working. At the end of each lesson, I like to review the key points, provide constructive feedback, and set clear goals or practice tasks so the student continues making progress between sessions.
Ultimately, my goal is not only to help students improve their grades but also to build their confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for learning.
