About Hugo
With over 12 years of experience teaching saxophone to college students, I focus on developing strong technique, musical understanding, and confidence. My teaching style is flexible and student-friendly, allowing lessons to suit different learning speeds.
I train students in tone quality, breath control, finger coordination, rhythm accuracy, and expressive playing. Improvisation and creative exercises are included to help students enjoy learning and express themselves musically.
I use real-life music examples, recording feedback, and play-along practice to support learning. Music theory, ear training, and sight-reading are taught to build a strong musical foundation.
My goal is to help students progress steadily while enjoying their musical journey and gaining confidence as saxophone players.

My approach to teaching Saxophone focuses on steady progress and musical understanding. I believe students should understand what they play and why they play it. I teach fundamentals such as posture, breathing technique, embouchure formation, finger accuracy, tone clarity, and rhythm.
Creativity is encouraged through sound exploration, improvisation, and learning music students enjoy. As a mentor, I support students emotionally and musically, helping them stay motivated.
Critical thinking is encouraged by teaching students to analyse rhythm, scales, and melodies. Accountability is maintained through regular practice routines, feedback sessions, and achievable goals. Along with Saxophone, I also teach Music Theory, Rhythm Training, Ear Training, and Scale Studies.
