About BASIL
Hi! I am a CPA licensed in multiple states and am the owner of a small business CPA firm specializing in tax preparation, bookkeeping and related consulting. We are 5-star rated on Google! I was a 4.0 GPA student in college and am a lifelong learner. In the same way that I sought out top grades as a reflection of my knowledge on a subject, I now prioritize a fair, quality service to my clients above all else.
I had tutored my college roommates on multiple subjects, given my stellar grades. As a CPA business owner, I am frequently lauded by my clients for explaining things thoroughly yet in simple words. It's that no-nonsense style that I will bring to our meetings, if you hire me as your tutor!

Passing the CPA exam is not easy and not for the faint of heart. It is not a team sport and your success will not be predicated on your "positive attitude." For you to get what you want, you will have to come prepared to every meeting and to do a lot of independent reading + thinking. There's no magic touch that any tutor, me included, can bestow upon you if you don't WORK for it. You now also know that I am refreshingly honest (or brutally honest, depending on whether you like straightforwardness)!
In college, my style was to read the textbook before class, listen in class, then re-read the chapter before the exam. I don't expect or need you to approach learning as I did, but I want you to know that the CPA exam will challenge YOU, so you will have to give it your very best. The biggest contribution I can make to your success, then, isn't... to parrot the material. It will be to make sure you keep up the tough, winning mindset necessary for YOU to learn the material, with or without my "teaching." I am here to be your cheerleader and to hold you accountable: that's really it.
