About Evan
I'm Evan, a lifelong chess player from St. Louis, one of the biggest chess cities in the world. I started young, taking lessons from a national master as a kid alongside my older brother, and we both won a Missouri K-5 state title.
Today I play at 2500+ blitz and bullet on chess.com, in the top couple percent of players on the site. I love this game deeply, especially endgames and positional play, and I have taught chess to my brothers and friends over the years. Now I want to help other players improve and enjoy the game as much as I do. I am patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in your progress.

I coach beginner and intermediate players who want real, practical improvement, roughly up to 1800. My teaching is built around pattern recognition rather than memorizing openings.
A typical lesson starts with your recent games. We find the mistakes that are actually costing you rating, then work on the tactics, calculation, and endgame ideas behind fixing them. I explain why strong moves work and show you how top players handle similar positions, so you start to see the board the way they do.
What sets me apart is that I play at 2500+ blitz on chess.com, in the top couple percent of players there, and I grew up in the St. Louis chess scene learning from a national master as a kid. I keep lessons practical, encouraging, and built entirely around your goals. Whether you are brand new or stuck at a plateau, I meet you where you are and give you a clear plan to improve.
