About Stanislav
Throughout the last three years of my undergraduate course I had the opportunity to explore a progression of modules on structural soils and foundation design. At the early stages of the program my particular interests fell within other aspects of civil engineering, but as the course progressed these interests were increasingly shifting towards soil mechanics and geotechnics. Dealing with a natural material, as opposed to man-made ones such as concrete and steel, was the main reason why my attention was drawn to soils. Furthermore, the wide range of applications and potential career path areas justified my interests and promoted my intentions to seek proficiency in the field of geotechnical engineering. Throughout my studies I gained good knowledge on the fundamentals of the topic. I have carried out laboratory tests on soils which allowed me to better understand how soil parameters are obtained. The advanced foundation topics covered in my final academic year covered a range of important aspects of geotechnical engineering. I carried out designs for shallow and deep foundations and explored the applications of the Eurocode framework. I have prepared an Interpretative Ground Report and a Geotechnical Design Report. This allowed me to further develop my report writing skills and elaborate on the interpretation of in-situ and laboratory soil test data.
