About Soba
Hello! My name is Mosobalaje, and I'm currently studying for an Integrated Master's degree in Theoretical Physics at the University of Leeds.
Physics has always fascinated me because it provides a way of understanding the world through logical reasoning and mathematical thinking. For me, Physics and Mathematics are much more than learning equations or substituting numbers into formulae—they're about developing problem-solving skills that can be applied to unfamiliar situations, both inside and outside the classroom.
Teaching is something I genuinely enjoy because it also helps me deepen my own understanding. Explaining concepts to students with different backgrounds and abilities encourages me to think about topics from new perspectives and find clearer, more intuitive ways of communicating them. Through my experience as an Ogden Trust Physics Teaching Intern and as a tutor with MyTutor, I've learned that every student learns differently, and adapting my teaching to meet those individual needs is one of the most rewarding parts of the role.
In my lessons, I aim not only to prepare students for exams but also to help them develop confidence and independence. I focus on building a solid understanding of fundamental concepts before tackling more challenging and unfamiliar problems, so students learn how to think like mathematicians and physicists rather than simply memorising methods.
Alongside my teaching experience, my degree has given me a strong background in areas such as computational physics, quantum mechanics, and statistical physics. I enjoy bringing that enthusiasm into every lesson and showing students that these subjects are both challenging and incredibly rewarding.
Finally, I understand how important reliability is in a tutor. My previous teaching and tutoring experience has instilled strong organisational and time-management skills, and I pride myself on being punctual, well prepared, and committed to providing a positive and supportive learning experience for every student.
I'm excited to share my passion for Physics and Mathematics with you, and I look forward to helping you achieve your goals.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, whether that is building confidence, catching up on difficult topics, or achieving top GCSE and A-level grades in Physics or Mathematics. I am an Integrated Master’s student in Theoretical Physics at the University of Leeds, with experience teaching GCSE and A-level Physics as a Teaching Intern, as well as tutoring Maths and Science through MyTutor.
Lessons are typically 1 to 1.5 hours long, although this can be adjusted depending on the student’s needs and preferences. I aim to create a supportive and structured environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their understanding at their own pace.
Rather than focusing on memorisation, I emphasise deep conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. Lessons are carefully structured to manage cognitive load, introducing new ideas in clear, manageable steps before progressing to more complex applications. This helps students build lasting understanding rather than short-term recall.
A key focus is applying knowledge to unfamiliar problems, which is essential for exam success. Once core concepts are secure, we work through mixed and increasingly challenging questions to develop flexible problem-solving skills.
To support long-term retention, I use interleaving and spaced practice, revisiting previous topics alongside new material. Homework may include exam questions, retrieval practice, or mind maps to help students organise and connect key ideas effectively.
My goal is not only to improve grades, but to help students become confident, independent learners with a strong and lasting understanding of Physics and Mathematics.
