About Vijay
I am an active IB DP Theatre Examiner — which means I mark the actual assessments that determine your final grade. I know what the mark scheme rewards, where students consistently lose marks, and how to close that gap.
I have 12 years in theatre education, including 8 years of MYP Theatre and 3 years of DP Theatre HL/SL at IB World Schools in India. I am an IBEN member and hold IB workshop certifications in both MYP and DP. I currently consult on IB Theatre program design at Neev Academy, Bangalore.
Before teaching, I spent 12 years working in professional theatre as a writer, actor, and director — with productions at the National Centre for Performing Arts, Mumbai and Shri Ram Centre, New Delhi. I understand both the creative and the academic demands of IB Theatre, and I coach both.
IB Theatre is a niche subject with very few specialist tutors available anywhere. I bring current examining authority, deep subject knowledge, and genuine practitioner experience to every session. My students work with someone who understands the subject from the inside — not just the curriculum documents.
Sessions are conducted via Zoom. I am based in Bangalore, India and available across time zones.

My approach
Every session starts with a clear objective — what you need to do before the next deadline, and what's standing in the way. Sessions are structured, not open-ended. You leave with specific next steps, not general advice.
A typical session
The first session is a diagnostic: which component you're working on, where you are in the process, and what the mark scheme says is required at your target band. From there, each session focuses on one concrete output — a working thesis for your Research Presentation, a structured director's concept for your Production Proposal, a clear performance intention for your Solo Theatre Piece, or a specific contribution log for the Collaborative Project.
I review your drafts before we meet. Session time is for targeted feedback, not reading together.
What sets me apart
I am an active IB DP Theatre Examiner. I mark the actual assessments — so I know exactly where submissions gain marks and where they lose them. Most students lose marks not because their creative work is weak, but because they haven't structured it against the criteria. I bridge that gap.
I also spent 12 years working in professional theatre as a writer, actor, and director before becoming a teacher. I understand what it means to make real creative decisions under constraints — and that perspective shapes how I coach.
Who these sessions are for
DP Theatre students at SL and HL working on any of the four assessed components: Research Presentation, Production Proposal, Collaborative Project, Solo Theatre Piece. MYP Theatre students preparing their e-Portfolio. Students who are serious about their grade and want to understand the criteria at a level most teachers don't teach to.
