About Israel
I am a passionate and dedicated French teacher with a talent for making language learning engaging, interactive, and culturally rich. With strong communication skills and creative teaching methods, I help students build confidence in speaking, reading, and writing French. The topic of this lesson was greetings and introductions in French. The main objective was for students to learn how to say hello, introduce themselves, and ask basic questions such as “Comment tu t’appelles ?”. By the end of the session, they were expected to hold a short introductory dialogue with confidence.
The lesson began with a warm-up activity where students greeted one another using Bonjour or Salut, but with different emotions—happy, shy, or serious. This simple icebreaker helped reduce nervousness and made the class feel more interactive.
Next, I introduced key vocabulary including Bonjour, Bonsoir, Bonne nuit, Je m’appelle…, Comment tu t’appelles ?, and Enchanté. We practiced pronunciation together and listened to a short recorded dialogue to reinforce comprehension.
Students then moved on to role-play exercises. Working in pairs, they pretended to meet in different situations such as at a café, in a classroom, or at a party. Each pair had to greet, introduce themselves, and ask questions in French. This activity encouraged creativity while practicing useful expressions.
A cultural note was added to explain the difference between greetings in France, such as a handshake in formal contexts and “la bise” (cheek kisses) among friends and family. Students compared this with greetings in their own cultures, which created lively discussion.
We closed with a “speed-friending” activity where everyone introduced themselves to multiple classmates in French. By the end, students could confidently exchange greetings and short introductions.
