About Lia
Hello there! My name is Lia. I live in the beautiful country of South Africa. I am currently in university studying Language Practice with English as my major. I have been a freelance English tutor for one year. I completed my TESOL certificate in 2020 at the International Open Academy with specializations in phonology, conversational English and developing reading and writing skills.
I am able to speak 6 out of the 11 official languages in my country and I have recently started learning French. I am an unpublished writer, a gym enthusiast and a foodie. I have a hidden talent for rapping; turns out I'm pretty good at rhyming words over an instrumental.
I aspire to make a difference in the lives of the people I will be tutoring. I am confident that all English goals can be achieved in my classroom. I hope to see you soon!

I use the 'Student Centered Approach' to teaching because my students are the first priority in my classroom. This means that my lessons are conducted according to the student's preferred learning style. However, my method requires me to instill a sense of responsibility in my students. The responsibility to actively participate in the learning process, learn internal motivation which will boost their self-confidence, and develop a lifelong love for learning English. My main goal is to have my learners develop a deeper understanding of English as a language; and to help them speak with the correct grammar, pronunciation, comprehension and most importantly, with confidence.
