  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed a deep interest in the Hindi language during my early school years. Being my mother tongue, Hindi was not just a subject for me but a means of expressing thoughts, emotions, and creativity. I especially enjoyed reading Hindi literature, writing essays, and participating in storytelling and recitation activities. These experiences gradually strengthened my connection with the language and built a strong foundation.

My interest in teaching and private tutoring developed later, as I realized the joy of helping others understand concepts in a simple and engaging way. During my academic journey, I often assisted my classmates and younger students with their Hindi studies. Their improvement and confidence gave me a sense of satisfaction and inspired me to pursue tutoring more seriously.

Over the past three years, my experience as a Hindi tutor has further deepened my passion. I have come to appreciate how personalized guidance can make a significant difference in a student’s learning journey. Private tutoring allows me to focus on each student’s individual needs, adapt my teaching methods, and create a comfortable environment where they can learn confidently.

For me, teaching Hindi is not just a profession but a meaningful way to share knowledge, preserve the richness of the language, and help students develop strong communication skills.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach Hindi as a language with a focus on building strong foundational skills as well as developing confidence in communication. My teaching covers key areas such as grammar, vocabulary building, reading comprehension, writing skills, and spoken Hindi. I aim to create a balanced approach where students not only understand the rules of the language but also learn how to use them effectively in real-life situations.

I particularly enjoy teaching topics like storytelling, essay writing, and comprehension because they allow students to express their thoughts creatively and improve their language fluency. I also like incorporating Hindi literature—such as poems and short stories—as it helps students connect emotionally with the language while enhancing their understanding and interpretation skills.

Grammar is another important area I focus on, and I make it interesting by using simple explanations, examples, and mnemonic techniques so that students can grasp concepts easily. I enjoy seeing students gain clarity and confidence in areas they once found difficult.

While I teach all topics with dedication, some students initially find grammar rules or formal writing a bit challenging or less interesting. However, I see this as an opportunity to make those topics more engaging by using interactive methods, real-life examples, and step-by-step guidance to build their interest and understanding.

Overall, my goal is to make learning Hindi enjoyable, practical, and meaningful, so that students not only perform well academically but also develop a genuine appreciation for the language.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I have been fortunate to have a teacher who truly inspired me and shaped my approach toward learning and teaching Hindi. During my school years, my Hindi teacher, Miss Harshi Sahni, played a significant role in developing my interest in the subject. She had a unique way of explaining even the most complex concepts in a simple and engaging manner, which made learning both enjoyable and meaningful.

What inspired me the most was her ability to connect with students. She encouraged us to express our thoughts freely, participate in discussions, and appreciate the beauty of the language beyond textbooks. Her passion for Hindi literature, storytelling, and creative writing created a positive and motivating learning environment in the classroom.

She also believed in giving individual attention to each student, understanding their strengths and areas of improvement. This approach left a strong impression on me and later influenced my own teaching style as a private tutor.

Today, I try to incorporate the same values in my teaching—patience, clarity, encouragement, and a student-centered approach. Her guidance not only strengthened my command over Hindi but also inspired me to pursue teaching as a meaningful and fulfilling profession.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

In my opinion, a good tutor should possess a combination of strong subject knowledge and the ability to connect with students effectively. First and foremost, clarity of concepts is essential, as a tutor must be able to explain topics in a simple, understandable, and engaging manner.

Patience is another very important quality. Every student learns at a different pace, and a good tutor should be willing to adapt their teaching style according to the student’s needs without creating pressure. Along with patience, strong communication skills help in building a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions and express their doubts.

A good tutor should also be empathetic and supportive, understanding the challenges students face not only academically but sometimes emotionally as well. Providing encouragement and positive feedback plays a key role in boosting a student’s confidence and motivation.

Adaptability and creativity are equally important. Using different teaching methods—such as examples, storytelling, mnemonics, and interactive activities—can make learning more interesting and effective. Additionally, good time management and consistency help in maintaining a structured learning process.

Lastly, a great tutor is someone who inspires a love for learning rather than just focusing on completing the syllabus. They guide students to become independent learners and help them build skills that benefit them beyond academics.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One of the most valuable experiences from my school days related to Hindi was during a storytelling and recitation activity. I still remember that I was initially very hesitant to speak in front of the class. Although I had a good understanding of the language, I lacked confidence in expressing myself publicly.

My Hindi teacher, Miss Harshi Sahni, noticed this and encouraged me to participate in a small storytelling session. She helped me prepare by simplifying the story, guiding me on pronunciation, and motivating me to practice regularly. On the day of the activity, I was nervous, but her encouragement gave me the confidence to try.

When I finally presented my story in front of the class, it turned out to be a very positive experience. I received appreciation not only from my teacher but also from my classmates. That moment was a turning point for me—it boosted my confidence and changed my perspective towards learning and expressing Hindi.

This experience taught me the importance of encouragement and individual attention in a student’s growth. Today, as a tutor, I always try to support my students in overcoming their hesitation and building confidence, just as my teacher did for me. I believe that with the right guidance and motivation, every student can unlock their true potential.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Like any subject, learning and teaching Hindi also comes with its own set of challenges. During my early learning years, one of the main difficulties I faced was mastering certain grammar rules, especially concepts like sentence structure, gender, and proper usage of words in different contexts. Although Hindi is my mother tongue, understanding its formal structure required consistent practice and attention to detail.

Another challenge was developing confidence in formal writing, such as essays and letters. Expressing thoughts in a well-organized and grammatically correct manner took time and effort. However, with regular practice, guidance from my teachers, and reading Hindi literature, I was able to overcome these difficulties.

As a tutor, one of the ongoing challenges is addressing the different learning needs of each student. Some students find grammar difficult, while others struggle with reading or writing. Keeping every student engaged and motivated, especially when they initially lack interest in the subject, can also be challenging.

However, I see these challenges as opportunities to grow. They have helped me become more patient, adaptable, and creative in my teaching approach. I continuously work on improving my methods by using simple explanations, real-life examples, and interactive techniques to make learning easier and more enjoyable for my students.

Overall, these experiences have strengthened both my understanding of the subject and my ability to support students effectively.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Yes, I do have a particular passion, and it lies in both teaching and the Hindi language itself. For me, teaching is not just a profession but a meaningful way to connect with students, guide them, and contribute to their personal and academic growth.

Within my subject, I am especially passionate about helping students express themselves confidently in Hindi. I enjoy working on areas like creative writing, storytelling, and spoken Hindi, where students can share their thoughts, ideas, and emotions freely. Seeing a student move from hesitation to confidence in expressing themselves is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

I am also deeply interested in the richness of Hindi as a language—its literature, expressions, and cultural depth. I like introducing students to poems, short stories, and real-life applications of the language so that they can develop not just knowledge but also appreciation for it.

At the same time, I am passionate about the process of teaching itself—understanding each student’s learning style, creating a supportive environment, and using creative methods like storytelling, examples, and interactive activities to make learning enjoyable.

Overall, my passion is a blend of teaching and the language Hindi, where I aim to inspire confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love for learning in my students.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

What makes me a Superprof is my dedication to creating a meaningful and student-centered learning experience. I focus on ensuring that each student truly understands and enjoys the language Hindi.

I believe in personalized teaching, where every lesson is adapted according to the student’s level, learning style, and goals. I provide one-to-one attention, clear explanations, and use techniques like storytelling, real-life examples, and mnemonics to make learning Hindi simple and engaging.

Another strength I bring is patience and strong communication. I create a comfortable and supportive environment where students feel confident to ask questions without hesitation. I also focus on building their confidence, especially in reading, writing, and speaking Hindi.

In addition, I go beyond regular teaching by incorporating practice exercises, quizzes, and practical assignments to reinforce learning. I also guide students in developing good study habits and time management skills, which help them in the long run.

Most importantly, I am genuinely passionate about teaching and committed to helping my students succeed. I measure my success through my students’ progress, confidence, and growing interest in the subject.
