About Lorna
I have been in education for the past 5 years and have always had an interest in teaching. English is a subject I feel extremely passionate about, having been inspired by a teacher I had when I was at school. My main purpose is to encourage positivity, confidence and enthusiasm in students, with the hope of passing on my love of English.
I am confident in my ability to teach English to students, having taught the subject to both KS3 and KS4. In addition to this having studied English at university, I have a vast knowledge of literature from all ages.

My lessons have the students at heart and I will always adapt my teaching to cater to the individual student. Throughout my teaching career I have engaged in educational research and use a range of strategies in my teaching that are research based. This influences the type of questions I ask and the methods used in class such as the style of written tasks.
I will encourage you (not humiliate) and help you to become more confident in English. My lessons are informed by the student and their ability, which forms the structure of the questions I will ask. I have a good understanding of the AQA curriculum and exam rubric, with experience of marking GCSE exam papers.
The typical length of a lesson will be 60 minutes, with plenty of time for questions. My lessons are catered for secondary level English, including KS3 and KS4. I have 5 years teaching experience and have a DBS check and PGDE qualification. In addition to this I have a BA degree in English from a Russell Group university. I also have some experience teaching Geography to KS3 and KS4.
