About Mae
I have been a literacy enthusiast for nearly half a decade. As a case manager and a teacher I have assisted clients and students to gain confidence in their reading comprehensive abilities. It is important to share personal enthusiasm for the content to promote interest and learning in the subject matter. Personalizing and adapting instruction helps to engage students in learning. A good instructor challenges students to work hard and think critically by using a host of best practices such as:

Collaborating with colleagues
Reflecting on teaching practices
To obtain the goal of making content relevant and exciting, breaking down concepts to make them understandable to students, and to assist the student to achieve a natural love for literature.

I prefer the methodology of teaching with compassion and patience to recognize the potential of clients and provide positive supports to encourage and motivate them to attain their goals. Extracting meaning from what we read, is the ultimate goal of reading. Experienced readers often take this for granted and may not appreciate the reading comprehension skills required. I understand that the process of comprehension is both interactive and strategic. We need to do more than passively read text, readers must analyze it, internalize it and make it our own.
