1. Teaching method and techniques
My methodology for teaching Language, Literature, and Spanish (ELE) focuses on the communicative approach, practical linguistic analysis, and the fostering of critical and expressive competence.
2. Structure of a typical lesson plan
A standard 60-minute session is adapted according to the objective (grammar, writing, syntax, literature, or Spanish conversation), but follows this effective structure:
Activation and Warm-up (5–10 min):
A brief oral activity or review of the previous topic to activate vocabulary, warm up fluency, or gauge prior knowledge regarding the day's concept.
Presentation of the Concept or Model Text (15 min):
A clear explanation of the grammatical point, syntactic rule, literary movement, or text type, supported by real-world examples or literary excerpts.
Guided Practice (15–20 min):
Collaborative work on syntactic sentences, analysis of a poem or excerpt, or guided paragraph writing. We discuss the rationale behind each linguistic choice.
Independent Production (15 min):
The student applies what has been learned: writing a short text, analyzing a sentence independently, or completing an oral/written interaction exercise supervised in real time.
Feedback and Wrap-up (5 min):
Review of common errors detected during the session, reinforcement of key vocabulary or rules, and a proposal for a brief consolidation task.
