About Dani
Hello! I am Danielle, a passionate and seasoned psychology tutor with a rich background in the field, offering classes from GCSE to undergraduate level.
My career in Criminal Justice Probation Services spans over 23 years, during which I amassed a wealth of experience and insight into human behaviour and psychology. I also have valuable experience working in the NHS Personality Disorder Pathway, which gave me a profound understanding of mental health and its intersections with various aspects of daily life.
In 2024, I will proudly complete two MSc qualifications, further deepening my knowledge in the field of psychology. Additionally, I hold a post-graduate certificate in Behaviour Change and am a certified Life Coach. These qualifications, combined with my extensive field experience, have equipped me with a deep understanding of the subject matter and honed my ability to effectively impart this knowledge to my students.
I have a special interest in working with neurodiverse individuals. This interest stems from both my professional experiences and personal encounters, enabling me to approach teaching with empathy and understanding. I am adept at creating an inclusive, accessible learning environment that respects and celebrates diverse learning needs and styles.
As a tutor, I aim not only to help students excel academically but also to foster a genuine appreciation for studying psychology. With several years of experience in tutoring, I have honed a unique and effective teaching methodology that caters to a diverse range of students, from GCSE to undergraduate level. Teaching Methodology
My teaching methodology is based on a balanced blend of traditional and contemporary techniques, harnessing the power of educational technology when necessary. I firmly believe in an interactive approach, emphasizing dialogue and mutual understanding to foster a productive learning environment. Using a variety of resources and materials, I strive to make each topic engaging and understandable, relating them to real-world contexts whenever possible.
I structure the lessons to be student-centered, encouraging learners to actively participate, ask questions, and explore their curiosities. The primary goal is to instill a sense of confidence in the student's abilities, motivate them to tackle challenges head-on, and cultivate a lifelong love for learning.
Lesson Structure
Typically, my lessons last between one to two hours, depending on the complexity of the topic and the learner's comprehension pace. Each session begins with a brief review of the previous lesson to reinforce learned concepts. The core part of the lesson introduces new material, breaks it down into manageable parts, and explains it in a comprehensive manner.
Practical exercises, quizzes, and discussions follow the introduction of new content to assess understanding and facilitate retention. I also make room for feedback and reflection, so the student can voice any difficulties, and we can adjust the teaching approach accordingly.
Over the years, I have gathered rich experience working with young people and adults, both in group settings and one-on-one sessions. This diverse exposure has equipped me with the skills to adapt my teaching style to various learning styles and abilities, ensuring that each student receives the individual attention they deserve.
Target Audience
My lessons cater to a wide range of learners, from those preparing for their GCSEs to those at the undergraduate level. I'm adept at breaking down complex concepts for younger students and scaffolding their learning effectively. At the same time, I'm experienced in guiding older learners through intricate subject matter, encouraging critical thinking, and helping them develop sophisticated analytical skills. Regardless of age or academic level, my ultimate goal is to make learning an enjoyable and rewarding experience for all my students.
