About Ava
I am a passionate piano tutor with 8 years of teaching experience, having successfully taught around 300 students, including high school learners, college students, and adults. My lessons focus on helping students develop strong technical skills, musical understanding, and performance confidence while nurturing creativity and expressive playing.
My teaching philosophy emphasises proper posture, hand coordination, finger independence, scales, arpeggios, rhythm, sight-reading, and musical interpretation, ensuring students connect both technically and emotionally with the music they play.
Lessons are structured with warm-ups, technical exercises, theory, and repertoire practice, and I provide guidance for effective home practice to ensure steady improvement. Many students have performed confidently in recitals, school programmes, competitions, and public events, and several have achieved high distinctions in graded examinations.
My goal is to guide students towards becoming confident, expressive, and skilled pianists who enjoy music and continue growing as musicians and individuals.

My methodology for piano instruction balances structure with adaptability to ensure steady and meaningful progress. I believe that music education should nurture both technical skill and personal expression. I adapt my teaching style to match each student’s learning preference, whether visual, auditory, or hands-on.
I focus on strengthening foundational skills such as posture, scale fluency, rhythm precision, coordination between hands, and dynamic control. I divide complex musical pieces into smaller sections to make learning manageable and clear. Flexibility allows me to adjust pacing and revisit important techniques as needed.
Collaboration encourages students to participate actively in their musical journey by setting achievable goals and choosing inspiring repertoire. A positive and encouraging classroom atmosphere supports creativity and reduces fear of mistakes. Beyond piano lessons, I teach music theory, harmony, sight-reading, and beginner composition to provide a comprehensive musical education.
