Tailor-made lesson plan: put myself in the position to consider questions for students.

I am pleased to recommend Iris for a Chinese language teaching position. She has been my teacher for Mandarin in Beijing, China, from July 2012 to February 2013.
Iris is a devoted and inspiring teacher with focus on the individual needs of the student. We tailored a program and content so that it would best help me to first pick-up essentials of the Mandarin language and then go deeper focusing on areas that add most value in my day-to-day life in Beijing. Iris has been very flexible, helping to arrange lessons fitting in my busy schedule.
In the class she is energetic, patient when needed and has a great sense of humor. Mandarin is a difficult language and without the inspiration that Iris has provided, I likely have given up. Both her knowledge and teaching capability as well as her character makes all the difference.

Iris was my private Mandarin tutor for over a year. From October 2016 to November 2017, I studied under her twice to three times per week, and I’ve come to know her well enough to give her my strongest endorsement, both personally and professionally.
My Mandarin improved tremendously under Iris—no small achievement given the way westerners often struggle with the language. The entirety of my course was tailor-made to my learning goals, and then fine-tuned along the way when need arose. Iris was always early to our appointments, and always staying late to finish an activity or an explanation. It did not surprise me at all when I learned that she started down the teaching path by giving Mandarin lessons gratis while in the UK. Moreover, she possesses the empathy and emotional intelligence to take those great qualities on the road and thrive in New Zealand.
