About Laura
Having studied English Literature at Durham University, Classical Voice at Trinity Conservatoire of Music and Acting at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, I bring a wide level of creativity and skill to my tuition.
Following my training at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School I worked as an actress across theatre, TV and film. My theatre work included roles at The Young Vic, The Gate Theatre, The Finborough, Greenwich Theatre, York Theatre Royal, Bristol Old Vic, Derby Playhouse, The Dukes and Pilot Theatre. TV and film work included SIlent Witness (BBC) and Sweeney Todd (Warner, director Tim Burton).
I then moved into education and gained 10 years' experience working to support children and young people in reaching their full potential.
I have worked in school support, at both primary and secondary level, most recently as a whole-school Student Achievement and Support Manager (Pastoral). This work has given me an in depth knowledge of where students struggle and an understanding of how to remedy this with a wide range of individually tailored learning techniques.
I have additional training in counselling, ELKLAN speech and language for secondary level and hold the nationally recognised qualification of Mental Heath First Aid for young people.
I am uniquely placed to combine my degree in English Literature, my background in theatre arts and my pastoral experience to help children develop creativity, curiosity and confidence.
I am currently writing a novel for teenagers, under the guidance of an editor, recently winning a place on the Emerging Writer's programme at the London Library.

Laura supported my daughter through her GCSE'S while she was going through chemotherapy. Laura was understanding with how my daughter was feeling. Laura has an impressive range of qualifications including a high level of undergraduate academic attainment and as a post graduate has studied the Arts extensively (Drama school, Opera singing).
