About Pearl
I didn’t always love writing essays. In fact, I used to dread writing them. But through endless (ongoing) practice, I have found some priceless techniques that have made it so I enjoy the time spent at my desk; techniques that preserve the joy I have for English throughout the whole process.
My personal experiences with ADHD have required me to find ways to handle the stresses of deadlines and how to manage time in a way that doesn’t make my head explode with stress. I’d gladly pass these on to anyone struggling with similar, and often unavoidable, obstacles your brain and school kindly throw at you.

After school I danced professionally (give me a shout if you want dance lessons too) before deciding I wanted to do English. My A*s in English lit and lang at GCSE secured me a place on an access course which I completed with full distinctions.
My approach to tutoring involves, at first, talking to you about what you find interesting, fascinating, or repelling about English. If you don’t like it, be free to not like it. In fact, that gives me a great place to start. I will then ask you what it is you want to work on, whether it be prep for exams or an essay due next week, and what syllabus you use. I will then devise a personalised plan to help you achieve these goals. I use Quizlet to make flashcards sets for my students and I go through these with them. I also give students exam questions and extracts to work on in sessions which we pick apart and analyse together.
The length of lessons are up to you but I mostly teach 60 minute sessions.
