About Mackenzie
Hello and Welcome! My name is Mackenzie Southern, and I’m really excited to be your tutor. I’ve always been passionate about learning—and just as passionate about helping others learn too. Teaching gives me the chance to make a real difference in someone’s confidence, understanding, and success, and that’s why I do what I do. I know that every student learns differently, and that’s why I focus on creating a supportive, flexible, and engaging environment where you can ask questions, make mistakes, and grow at your own pace. Whether you’re trying to build a strong foundation, or just feel more confident in class, I’m here to guide you every step of the way. I want to teach because I believe that learning should feel empowering—not stressful. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch students go from feeling stuck to saying, “Oh, I get it now!” My goal is to help you reach that moment as often as possible. I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your goals.

Teaching Techniques & Methodology:
My teaching approach is student-centered and adaptable. I focus on building strong foundational understanding by breaking down complex concepts into manageable parts. I encourage active participation through guided questioning, real-life examples, and problem-solving exercises. I tailor lessons to the student’s learning style—whether they’re visual, auditory, or hands-on learners—and provide regular feedback to track progress.
I also believe in fostering a growth mindset, helping students build confidence by celebrating small victories and learning from mistakes. I often use digital tools (such as interactive whiteboards, online quizzes, and videos and fun activities) to keep lessons engaging and interactive.
Typical Length of a Lesson:
A typical lesson lasts between 45 to 60 minutes.
Qualifications and Experience:
I have 12 months experience as a teacher aide and am about to go into my second year of my bachelor of primary teaching. I’ve been tutoring for 12 months now. Over this time, I’ve helped students at various levels—from primary school to Secondary school—improve their understanding, boost their grades, and gain confidence in their abilities.
