About Amy
I was born and raised in Munich, Bavaria to Irish parents meaning I grew up speaking both English and German. I moved to Dublin a few years ago to pursue my studies in German literature and Italian at Trinity College Dublin. Since 2016, I have been teaching Grinds in English and German although I currently solely focus on the latter.
Although most of my students in the past have been Leaving Cert students, I have some experience teaching first and second year University students.
As well as tutoring, I have some experience in translation having worked for a up and coming German company.

Before I start teaching students I need to have an understanding of their starting standard of German; their strong points and weaknesses and of course the student's goal i.e. whether they want to improve their comprehension or conversation skills etc. I dedicate the first class or two to 'testing' my student (often without their knowledge!)
My classes are very much tailored by the student's needs and at no point should they feel under pressure or nervous as some would in a large language class. Some of my students feel more comfortable being taughtin small groups although mostly I teach one to one.
I have experience teaching both adults and teenages.

Amy really knew how to explain everything to me in a way that I would easily understand. She was punctual and I though she was very reasonably priced!
Amy is really helpful. I feel I’m already making great progress!
Amy is such a lovely and patient person. She’s a real confidence giver which is so important when learning a language. Couldn’t recommend her enough.
Amy is one of the most understanding and motivated tutors I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Not only is she patient, but her teaching methods work in a way that is both simple and extremely effective.
