I believe one should be well aware of the topic they're going to lecture on. All the cross questions and doubts one can think can come up in the class shall be ready with a precise answer. Interaction is very crucial, be it individual lecturing or a group one, having involved each and every student via discussing things with them , asking them time and again are they understanding and putting forward questions to them as a recap helps a lot in my view and that's how I've always conducted my classes. Visualisation and relatable examples are the most easily understood and remembered. Providing references and a set of questions for practice adds cherry to the cake.
