About Lizzie
My goal as a tutor is to help students not only solve problems but also build a deep understanding of the concepts behind them. My teaching style centers on practical problem-solving skills but also on building conceptual understanding, which is essential in mathematics.
My typical lesson plan starts with a Warm-up/Review, looking over previous class materials. A Concept Introduction where I present the topics with real-world connections. Guided Examples & Student Practice, where we work through problems together, eventually leading to the student working on their own. And lastly, a Wrap-up where I summarize the main takeaways and suggest targeted practice problems (homework).
Something that I believe is essential when learning math is not just memorizing how to solve equations, but also how to think mathematically. This helps students more widely apply concepts to a bigger array of problems rather than remembering the methodology of a solution. The way I teach ensures that students can focus more on acquiring this skill than just memorization.
My lessons are aimed towards High School/College students who may need help with Pre-calculus, AP Calculus, or even higher levels like Calc I, II, III.
