About Ben
I’m Ben Richards, I’m 18 and currently studying for my bachelor's degree at the Royal College of Music. I have been playing cello for 11 years and also studied for 4 years at Chetham’s School of Music. I’m teaching for multiple reasons, the first being that I want to start a new generation of cellists in the right direction of learning (that I believe) so that they can become the best musicians that they can be. I also believe that teaching makes me think more about my own cello playing, and may in fact further my own abilities for that reason. I mainly hope to take the lessons that have been most valuable to me in my learning journey, and pass those down to my own students.

My teaching will be based on the belief that technique can inform musicality and with experience also comes better musical intention. I will give my students the necessary tools to improve and learn the cello, these tools I have learnt through being taught by 4 different renowned cellists and cello teachers throughout my 11 years of cello playing.
