About Sophia
I’m Sophia, and my goal is to turn you into the guitarist you’ve always wanted to be. With 6 years of experience teaching one-to-one live lessons, I’ve helped students from 3rd grade through the first year of college master the fretboard. I earned my degree in Music with a focus on stringed instruments from UT Austin, where I spent years performing in various ensembles, from jazz combos to rock bands.
My teaching style is all about confidence. I remember how hard those first barre chords were, and I’ve developed a series of "Success Milestones" that help my junior and high school students see progress every week. One of my proudest achievements was producing a virtual student showcase where my online students from across the country performed together in a digital "rock band" format. I use high-definition video and professional audio interfaces during our Zoom/Teams calls so that you get the best possible instruction. Whether you want to gently fingerpick an acoustic guitar or learn to shred complex solos on an electric, I provide the smart strategies and professional feedback you need to succeed.
