Complexity is often the enemy of progress during our initial sessions. You might notice that I focus heavily on how calculation and visualization underpin every successful middlegame plan. We spend time breaking down your games to isolate tactical patterns before moving into endgame technique.

My instruction emphasizes positional understanding because knowing where to place your pieces is just as vital as finding a checkmate. Defensive technique and attacking play get equal attention since a balanced approach is essential for competitive success.

My teaching rhythm favors deep analysis over superficial memorization to ensure you grasp the underlying logic. A strong foundation remains the single most important factor for long-term growth.

About the lesson

Do you find yourself wondering why some moves lead to victory while others result in sudden collapse? After 22 years of competitive play including an Australian Open Rapid podium, I transitioned into full-time coaching to share my analytical perspective. My background includes 9 years of teaching and a FIDE Instructor title to guide your development.

Coaching keeps me sharp as I help students ranging from kids to adults navigate the board. I utilize the same tactical discipline that defined my own championship career in NSW. My role is to simplify the complex mechanics of the royal game for you.

You will find my approach patient and methodical as we examine your thought processes. 9 years of active coaching have taught me that clarity is the ultimate asset for a growing player.
