About Dominic
I am a law student at Queen Mary University of London and have had 2 years of experience tutoring Math and Additional Mathematics. I am passionate about getting my students to go beyond merely passing exams. I want to help them understand Mathematics on a deeper level so that they realise that it isn’t that bad after all and enjoy the process of learning Maths! I believe that any student can achieve high scores with the right amount of preparation, hardwork and direction.

Based on my experience doing IGCSE and A-level Mathematics as well as tutoring students for the past 2 years, I have analysed the recurring mistakes made by students and common gaps in understanding and address these in my classes. Maths is made up of patterns and logic, and quite often, students don’t immediately see that logic. One of my aims is to help the student see the logic in it and once the student sees it, the fog is suddenly lifted. I have had students who started laughing at themselves after realising how everything suddenly makes sense!
I also provide practical advice on how to handle examinations. I believe that having a grasp on mathematical concepts is only half the battle won. The other half is the practical applications such as knowing how to solve exam questions fast, using mental arithmetic to speed up calculations, knowing how to apportion time for each question, etc. Many of my previous coursemates had a good grasp of the concepts but were not swift in tackling the questions and this resulted in them falling short of a better score. I will address this problem in my classes.
My ultimate goal is to equip my students with the necessary skills to conduct their own independent learning. My observation is that students who achieve the top in their class or the highest grade possible are those who know where to access the information they need and then how to process that information on their own. This, is the skill I hope to impart into my students at the end of the day.
