About Silver
Hi there! I’m Xiuwen, a native Mandarin speaker from Northern China and a CTCSOL-certified Chinese tutor.
If you're tired of textbook conversations and memorizing things you'll never actually use, you might have found the right teacher.
I don't believe in teaching a textbook simply because it's the next page. Instead, I want to understand what you want to do in Chinese, what you already know, and where you're getting stuck, and then build the lesson around you.
Whether you want to have your first conversation in Chinese, travel around China, communicate with Chinese colleagues, prepare for the HSK, or simply understand the Chinese you hear in real life, we'll focus on Chinese that is actually useful to you.
As a language learner myself, I know that learning a language isn't just about memorizing more words. It's about getting used to its patterns, building good habits, and using the language again and again until it starts to feel natural.

I've been teaching Chinese for 3 years and I've worked with learners from beginner to advanced levels.
Before becoming a full-time Chinese tutor, I worked in several language-related fields, including English tutoring, subtitle translation, interpretation, international business and SEO content creation. These experiences have helped me develop a strong understanding of both Chinese and English, as well as the challenges that come with communicating across cultures.

Most importantly, I don't expect every student to learn in exactly the same way. I adjust the lesson content, pace, and activities according to your level, goals, and learning needs.
You don't need to know a lot of Chinese before you start speaking it.
And you don't need to understand every grammar rule before you can have a real conversation.
You just need the right practice, the right guidance, and a learning process that works for you.
