A Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson is tailored to the individual needs of the student, but here's a general structure I follow:
Warm-up (5-10 minutes): We start with a quick review of previously covered material to ensure retention and strengthen foundational knowledge.
Introduction to New Material (10-15 minutes): I introduce the new topic with a conceptual overview, showing its relevance and application. We may use diagrams, analogies, or simple examples to clarify the key ideas.
Guided Practice (15-20 minutes): Together, we work through problems, step by step, ensuring that the student grasps the process. I encourage them to try solving problems on their own and offer guidance when needed.
Independent Practice (10-15 minutes): The student works through additional problems independently. I monitor progress and offer assistance as necessary, focusing on areas where they are struggling.
Recap and Reflection (5 minutes): At the end of the lesson, we review what was covered. I ask the student to summarize the main points to ensure understanding and to highlight any questions for the next session.
Patient and Empathetic Approach: I understand that math can be challenging for many students, and I take a patient, empathetic approach. I work to create a comfortable environment where students feel free to ask questions and make mistakes without judgment.
