I like to teach with the instructors, not against. As most courses rely on similar framework, I believe the correct approach with EMT-B tutoring is to test what has been learned, see where recall gaps exist, provide pertinent instruction, and insert the student into a live scenario. EMS relies on rapid recall and reasoning; thus mock-situations and NREMT-adjacent questions provide the highest return on investment.
