About Habeebah
I have recently completed my PGCE Lifelong Learning Degree, and my subject specialism is Maths. I completed my placement at Kirklees College, where I designed and implemented lesson plans that I then delivered to students aged 16-18 as well as adult learners 19+.
A responsibility I took up prior to my students' final assessments is that pre-exam sessions were organised at the college for the learners, and I was involved in delivering these sessions along with my mentor. Learners attended college prior to their exams so that they had an opportunity to revise and ask questions on specific topics they needed further help with. This not only gave me the chance to support learners one-to-one and identify their strengths and areas for development, but it also allowed me to communicate effectively with these students. As this was a different experience to teaching in a group setting, the skills required to be able to effectively help learners with their revision included having to adapt any materials I was using to suit a one-to-one and being able to be more flexible with timing as I was focused on addressing the learner’s needs. Observing some of my learners go from a grade 3 at the start of the year to a grade 5 towards the end has shown the importance of providing learners with a learning environment that does not discriminate but instead prioritises equality of opportunity for all. Only by working with these learners to meet their personal targets and working to build a student-teacher relationship built on trust, tolerance, respect and understanding can we contribute towards a transformation in their lives which may transform the community.

As a GCSE Maths specialist who got an A in her GCSE Maths, an A in GCSE Further Maths and an A* in A-Level Maths, I believe that it is important to view my students as individuals with different learning needs. For some students, one method will work whereas for others a different method will be effective. Therefore, I believe it is important to use teaching strategies and methods that will allow all my students to participate fully in the lessons.
I will focus on topics students struggle with and work on mastering their knowledge on these topics before moving on to another topic.
I am a hardworking individual who is motivated and determined to overcome difficult tasks. I am bilingual and speak Urdu therefore am able to communicate with those who do not understand or speak English.
I take an interest in developing new, and refining current, skills and I am able to work independently but when it is necessary, I can work effectively alongside a group of people. I consider myself to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical and organisational skills and I am able to consistently produce work to a high standard, regardless of the pressure placed upon me. I am able to multi-task and balance workloads efficiently, which will aid me when faced with multiple demands.
I am a quick learner which will allow me to adapt to various situations quickly and I always adhere to safeguarding protocols and maintain confidentiality when required.
