About Micala
I have taught science in grades 5-12, TEAS test prep courses, and college anatomy and physiology over the course of nine years in the field of education. I have a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Natural Science that I obtained in 2015, a Master of Arts in Teaching that I obtained in 2017, and a Master of Biology with an Emphasis in Education that I obtained in 2024.

I believe that students learn best when they feel heard and respected. As an educator, I try to create an atmosphere where students are active participants in the learning environment by listening to their concerns and letting them guide the lesson where they can. I usually start sessions by asking what the goal of the student is and finding ways that we can work toward that goal. Some students just need a little extra confidence, while others need fundamental knowledge in order to build on understanding. I have experience teaching a wide variety of grade levels (5-12 as well as college-level courses) which allows me to have a continuous understanding of what content knowledge is needed to be on grade level. This also has given me a unique understanding of how to best prepare students for the next level of their educational journey. I am open to teaching all grade levels of science, as well as TEAS test prep for potential nursing students.
