About JEFFERSON

Hi, my name is Jefferson and I’m doing my third year of bachelor’s in information and Communication at the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles). I’m a native Spanish speaking student: raised in Ecuador and Spain. I’ve been quite a regular participant in many conversation tables and language events since my arrival to Belgium (end 2012), I’ve helped myself lots of people in these events either as a participant and as an animator of the tables in my language. These experiences helped me to develop a good comprehension about the difficulties people encounter when trying to practice a language. Myself willing to work on these aspects for my own interests I will offer you my understanding and support.
My experience and skills are therefore focus on the oral conversation although I also have a good knowledge of grammar if feel comfortable with that approach and want to work on it. What I propose is a set of exercises to practice your Spanish:
-Free subject or general topics: travelling, hobbies, entertainment… But also more complex topics such as politics, culture, work…
-Vocabulary games: riddles, descriptions, construction of phrases and short stories… whose vocabulary will be used as basis for an exercise in future lessons. This what allows for building your vocabulary and as a way to measure your progress.
-Sketch’s: roleplays about daily situations or more interesting, situations in which you feel or may feel uncomfortable when having to deal with them in a foreign language (job interviews, doing the groceries, fixing an appointment, doing paperwork at the townhall…). You’ll have the advantage of training yourself beforehand and having the situation under control thanks to the support of a teacher.
-Songs: we go through grammar, vocabulary, accents, expressions and cultural aspects thanks to the help of songs that belong to the music culture of the Spanish speaking world (Latin America and Spain). Have you ever wanted to know the meaning of a song in Spanish? This is your chance!
I can also help you to work on a more formal expression (argumentation, presentations…). You can of course choose the subject you want to work on but if you lack ideas I can always suggest an interesting topic. You and me will be taking notes during the lessons. At the end of each exercise you’ll get some feedback and at the end of the lesson you’ll get my notes with the remarks and vocabulary you may need to revise for the next lesson.
Don’t hesitate to leave me a message if you have any question or you want to suggest an exercise and program your lesson according to your needs. As for my availability you can check my schedule on the site. As for the location I’m willing to give you lessons out of Brussels (Wallonia and Flanders), in that case contact me to discuss about an adapted fee.
Finally, if it’s easier for you I can communicate fluently in French (C1) and English (B2) but also in Dutch (B1) and Italian (B1).
Hope to see you soon.
