About Sofía
I am a certified dancer with the APDE Elementary Grade, currently taking the 6th grade or 2nd Middle Grade exam. I am 18 years old and I have been dancing for 11 years. I have extensive experience performing on stage, I have participated in numerous competitions or championships, both in groups and individually, in which I have received individual and best dancer awards. I have also performed at charity galas and other shows organized by the city council. I have trained at the Miguel Marchán Dance School with great professionals and I have received courses from Sergio García, Ángel Manarre, José Manuel García, Miguel Marchán, Carmen Coy, Sara Nieto, Juanma Carrillo, Raquel Alarcón...
In addition, I have been part of the Miguel Marchán Spanish Young Ballet.

My classes are aimed at beginner to intermediate level students specializing in Spanish Dance. I also teach Ballet classes since it is a very important basis for the Spanish Dance technique. At any level, I start my classes with a warm-up. Depending on the level of the students, I apply the methodology that I believe is appropriate. At the lower levels, I focus on creating a good foundation that can be built on in the future, all from student motivation and fun. At higher levels, my goal is to clean up the positions and movements as much as possible, get the technique correct but start working and giving importance to the character of each dance and the body and facial expression. Another of my objectives is to develop the creativity of dancers, expand their vision of dance so that they are able to improvise, experiment and even create their own choreographies.
For example, if the specialty were Bolera School, I would start the class with a warm-up on the bar and then a table of chopsticks or castanets, to continue with the exercises or different small choreographies so that it does not become something mechanical and repetitive.
In a flamenco class I would start with warming up the feet (zapateado), hands and arms, and I would dedicate each class to practicing one or several different palos to work on the musicality and the different characteristic rhythms of each dance.
