About Ana Leticia
I am a linguist and a qualified language teacher. I did my PGCE course (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) in MFL (Modern Foreign Languages) in 2007 and, since then, I worked as a Spanish and French teacher in Six Form Colleges in the UK. I also taught Spanish and French adult courses in colleges for many years. Having the translator/interpreter qualification let me work as a freelance interpreter and translator. Before coming to the UK, 15 years ago, I qualified as a Primary School Teacher at the university and taught for two years in primary schools together with one year in France as a Spanish teacher assistant in a secondary school.

My teaching method varied according to the needs of the student and the context. If it is about teaching in Secondary Schools or Six Form Colleges, as a qualified teacher, I follow a well-structured lesson plan with a starter, main body and plenary. Before the lesson happens, I think and write my lesson plan. Objectives, teaching methods, resources, evaluation (formative and summative) and homework must be included. I also take into account other aspects such as students learning styles and differentiation - variety of resources according to students’ needs and levels. The lesson must be linked with the previous lesson and the next one and it must be linked also with other school subjects. If it is about private tuitions, then the teaching is a bit different. Once I know the real needs of the person, then I set a plan. So far, I taught privately to adults who wanted to improve their foreign language skills for pleasure, adults to wanted to get ready to pass a specific exam, and ‘A’ levels students who needed to improve the written skills to achieve good grades to access to university. Every student is different but the structure of the lesson always follows a similar pattern as I explained before. Personally, apart from organising my teaching, I like to see the student enjoying the lesson. If they like it they will be passionate for the subject and the learning will be much quicker and efficient.
