About Gabriel
My name is Gabriel Bruce. I’m a songwriter and songwriting instructor originally from London, UK.
My solo recordings include the albums Love in Arms and Come All Sufferers. My songs have been featured on BBC radio and written about in the international music press. I continue to play live music with various groups in and around Los Angeles.
My work has been described by The Guardian as “darkly romantic and intense,” while Loud and Quiet praised the songs as “beautifully written and quietly powerful.”
Alongside recording and performing, I’ve spent years thinking seriously about songwriting as a craft — melody, lyric, structure, and emotional clarity. My teaching focuses on helping people develop their own voice as writers rather than simply learning guitar technique.
Whether you’re just starting out or already writing songs and want thoughtful feedback and direction, my aim is to help you write work that feels honest, distinctive, and finished.

I’m less focused on technical guitar instruction and more on helping you actually create music — shaping lyrics, melody, structure, and arrangements so your songs feel complete and expressive.
We can work on:
• Writing and finishing songs
• Lyrics and melody development
• Arranging for guitar or voice
• Preparing songs for performance or recording
• Overcoming writer’s block and building a creative process
I’ve released two albums as a solo artist and have performed on stages large and small as well as live television broadcast such as Later… with Jools Holland. I bring practical experience from writing, recording, and performing my own music.
Lessons available in person in Los Angeles or online.
All levels welcome — especially people who want to start writing their own songs.
