I came to Lynden for help with a university programming course after failing the exam hurdle. He was patient, never made me feel embarrassed for asking basic questions, and instead of just giving me answers he'd ask the right questions until I understood the concept myself. After several lessons, I noticed that whenever I solved a coding problem I'd also ask myself "how would Lynden approach this?", which helped refine my thinking. He'd point out errors in my approach before they led me down the wrong path, and even when my autotests were passing he'd show me a better way to solve it. The rest was just drilling problems after problems. Things that used to fall apart under exam pressure became muscle memory. This term I cleared the hurdle comfortably and finished with a Distinction. Highly recommend him for anyone struggling with programming courses.

Really knowledgeable and experienced in C++, both the modern stuff and with legacy code.

Was known as the an expert in C++ when we were working together. He is quick to understand the code and is good at troubleshooting problems. Which are valuable skills you can only gain with experience.

I've worked with Lynden when coding up a new service to improve the resilience of a monitoring tool. I was always impressed by his deep knowledge of the fine details of c++ best practices and the STL. It was always fun and interesting working with Lynden as he's got a good sense of humour too. Lynden is an excellent teacher in my experience and actually ensures you have a strong base to fully understand and not just give a surface level answer to the question. He is extremely well versed in the field, to the point he can even help with other languages to a degree due to his understanding of his field.
